The Barones (from the left, clockwise): Raymond, Robert, Frank, Debra, and
Marie (the matriarch)
Episode: Robert's Date (Season 3, Episode 15)
Situation: Marie is worried that Robert will start dating his partner, Judy
Robert: Thanks Ma, I gotta use the phone. I gotta call Judy
Marie (smiling sheepishly): Uh...you are going to call Judy again? So this is like, uh, a serious thing :P
Robert: We are just friends, Ma. But it is good to know that you are down with it
Marie: You know, I really am down with it
Episode: The Can Opener (Season 4, Episode 2)
Situation: Marie is eager to hear Raymond complain about Debra
Raymond: She doesn't care
Marie (looking hopeful): What's that dear? You can talk to me. I am your mother. Please, talk to me
Ray: Nothing...Uh Uh
Marie: What, what
Frank: Can't you read the signs? Nothing...Uh Uh...He is married
Marie (with a look of extreme anticipation): Oh, what did she do? :D
Episode: What Good Are You (Season 5, Episode 12)
Situation: Marie doesn't want to let Ray know that he isn't exactly 'macho'
Raymond: Well, like in an emergency situation, you'd still want me around, right
Marie: What kind of emergency
Raymond: I don't know. I save you from flood or fire
Marie (stalling): Well, are there other people around? :D
Episode: Ray's Journal (Season 5, Episode 14)
Situation: Marie wants Ray to apologize for what he wrote in his journal
Raymond: Alright then, so are there pancakes?
Marie (shocked): That's it? You don't have anything to say to me
Raymond: What do you mean
Marie: I just apologized for doing something that apparently offended you, and you have nothing to say to me
Raymond: Thank you
Marie (mad): Thank you? So you think you are innocent in all of thuis
Raymond: Yeah
Marie (walking away in anger): Fine. Just fine. But let me tell you something. You may have written that diary, but I had to read it :P
Episode: Snow Day (Season 6, Episode 14)
Situation: Marie wants Debra and Raymond to feel guilty for not checking up on her
Debra: We don't really have any food either because we are going away
Marie: Oh, you came over because you were hungry
Raymond and Debra smile and node
Marie: When the man on the radio said that the airport was closed I just assumed that you cared enough to see whether your parents had frozen to death, but I guess that's too much :P
Episode: Liars (Season 8, Episode 7)
Situation: Marie doesn't want to admit that she had compiled notes of complaints about Debra
Raymond: What is she so good at finding out when we are lying? It takes one to know one
Marie (shocked): I do not lie
Raymond: Really? So, if we were to go over to your house right now, we wouldn't find any notes?
Marie (making a sorry face): Absolutely not. And I would like to say I can't believe that you are all ganging up on an elderly woman who hasn't been feeling very well lately. I need to lie down :D
Episode: Golf for It (Season 8, Episode 23)
Situation: Marie tries to make her sons feel guilty for not helping her
Marie: I am glad you boys are here. My laundry room shelves just got delivered, so you can put them up tomorrow morning
Robert: Oh, yeah, sorry Ma. Ray and I are going golfing, but we will do it for you on Sunday.
Marie: Oh no, that won't do because Lee and Stan are coming for lunch tomorrow afternoon
Ray: But it's kinda all set, Ma
Marie: So the list of things that are more important than me just keeps getting longer
Robert groans
Marie: Ok, how about doing the shelves now? Do you have any time for your mother now?
Robert: Well, Ma, we are supposed to leave for the golf course tonight
Marie (scarcastically): Aah, I understand. Ok, go golfing. Have a good time (and walks away, pretending to limp!!!!!!!!)
:P
